What is Mining Difficulty ?

If you’re interested in Mining Cryptocurrency, then mining difficulty definitely one of the most important considerations. That said, Mining difficulty is rather hard to understand, so I made a video explaining what mining difficulty is and what are the factors affecting mining difficulty. What is mentioned in this video applies to Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Dash and every other crypto currency that uses Proof of Work.

Thank you, always wanted to know what that is. Now, what is block height? As I am too lazy to go goole myself.

The way you explained it, it sounded like the difficulty is the problem the miners are trying to solve. But the difficulty is actually the 'size' or yes, difficulty of the problem. The goal is to solve the problem for example every 5 or 10 minutes, also called the blockchain (depending on the design choices of the currency). That difficulty goes up when the problem has been solved to fast last time or goes down when the problem isn't solved fast enough. The more miners or the better the hardware that work on the problem the faster it gets solved. If you want to have similar time to solve the problem than the difficulty has to change for each (or every few) rounds.

With Difficulty…does it work like….as long as my "workers" difficulty set "higher" than the "Network" difficulty….i am able to solve blocks? And then…when the Network difficulty "exceeds" my "workers" difficulty…..then my worker can no longer solve blocks?…is it something like that??
